HISTORICAL SOURCES ARE ANY traces of the past which remain. They may be written sources: documents, newspapers, laws, literature, advertisements, diaries, place names. They may be visual sources - paintings, cartoons, film, video, maps, field patterns, plans - oral sources or music. They may be artefacts, sites, buildings.
