ABSTRACT
Sgt. Sanchez (not her real name) was among those interviewed recently in a study (Figley, Cabrera, & Chapman, 2010) of combat medics between deployments. Combat medics are those who often experience primary trauma (war experiences), secondary trauma (the emotional and psychosocial consequences of providing medical services), and shared trauma (experience shared trauma with others in her unit).
