ABSTRACT
Before turning to detailed attention of Heidegger’s readings of the poetic, it may be useful to pause for a brief reading which underlines how far Heidegger’s work resists given modes of thinking and explication in cultural and literary criticism. Heidegger is not only challengingly different, he also reads such given modes – too sweepingly? – as a form of nihilism.
