ABSTRACT

This essay will be divided into three parts. First I shall set forth certain general features of Brentano’s theory of value. Secondly, I shall discuss one of these features in detail, namely, Brentano’s theory of want and desire and his distinction between what he calls ‘love’ and ‘hate’. Finally, I shall say something about the relation of Brentano’s theory to present-day Austrian economics.1
