ABSTRACT
There is nothing more shocking and horrific than the abuse and mal-
treatment of innocent people who are unable to protect and defend
themselves. Atrocious incidents of physical and emotional abuse to-
ward animals, children, women, and people who are elderly occur ev-
ery single day in our culture and they are often reduced to a few lines in
the local news of the daily paper.
