ABSTRACT

I Arthur Hailey’s writing career began in 1956, with the TV play later filmed and novelized as Flight Into Danger. It ends with Overload (1979), an appropriately apocalyptic chronicle of continental power failure that Hailey announced as his farewell to fiction. If true, he is retiring while still champion. Each of his last five novels (Hotel, Airport, Wheels, The Moneychangers, and Overload itself) have been international supersellers.
