ABSTRACT
The human-animal social connection construct embraces the ideology of mutual companionship, assistance, and affection between humans and domesticated animals, and as the ruling species humans have an obligation to demonstrate infinite compassion and appropriate protection for all animals. The human-animal social connection is different from the construct of human dependence on animals. Human dependence encompasses use of animals for protection, labor, food, and shelter and exploitation for experimentation and entertainment.
