ABSTRACT
Although I am an atheist, or perhaps because of it, when I travel to other countries and continents I always visit churches – big ones, little ones, ornate, and plain. On hot days they are cool. On cold or rainy days they offer shelter. I find the atmosphere in churches calming and sometimes I sit in on services. I have even quietly and inconspicuously attended weddings and funerals.
