ABSTRACT
Visual impairment including blindness and low vision has various developmental implications of which educators need to be aware. There are many causes and types of visual impairment, having different implications. Identification and assessment of visual impairment involves specialist evaluations of vision and educational assessments. There are distinctive implications for the curriculum and assessment, pedagogy, resources, school and classroom organisation, and therapy and care.
