ABSTRACT
Jamie was a happy child. Even though her mother, Joyce, worked two jobs to make ends meet, they still spent time together. But this changed once Randy, Joyce’s new boyfriend, started coming around. He worked as a manager at a small bank, wore nice suits, and drove a used but well-kept Volvo. Joyce couldn’t believe her luck. She was a poor single mother, yet this well-established middle-class man wanted to see her.
