ABSTRACT
Jessica and Marc grew up together. When they were toddlers, their mothers shared babysitting responsibilities. Marc’s father had a wicked temper and drank heavily. He would often yell at Marc and his mother. On occasion he would spank Marc severely. Jessica’s mother and father divorced when she was three years old. She saw her father only about once a year because he moved to another state shortly after the break-up.
