ABSTRACT

The first, and perhaps most powerful, component of a Reading Workshop is providing students choices in what they read. When students can choose a book they want to and, more importantly, can read, they will be more likely to engage in that text. Giving students control in what they do is highly motivating. Every student, even struggling readers, should be able to find a book they will enjoy. In effect, students will read more.
