ABSTRACT

Anxiety is contagious. Humans generally know this. The subtle and not-so-subtle process of passing anxiety among closely related family members is basic to every family. In child focus some special conditions appear to narrow that process to a more regular shift of anxiety to one or more offspring in the ever-present triangles. In Bowen theory, this process is described in detail as the family projection process (see Kerr and Bowen, 1988, p. 210).
