ABSTRACT

Human societies are vastly complex and multilayered entities. Examining their internal processes through the framework of a theory that originated in a study of the family is a challenging exercise. It may, however, provide a clarifying perspective to the confusing and almost random elements of the larger social systems that shape our functioning.
