ABSTRACT
Many years ago I was asked to list what I thought were the 10 most important attributes, skills, or traits that make a leader a leader. After some reflection I developed a list consisting of the following unranked items: courage, compassion, tenacity, knowledge, initiative, integrity, ability to listen, sense of humor, energy, and insight. Over the years, I have thought about that list, and although I might change a few of the items, I have concluded that the most important asset of a leader is the presence of followers.
