Resources for Individuals With Neuropsychological Disorders
I ndividuals with neuropsychological disorders need detailed documentation of their medical and rehabilitative history to obtain the best possible services for their specic disabilities. Once neuropsychological testing has been completed, a detailed report of results is generated that includes an analysis of the client’s cognitive strengths and weaknesses, a statement regarding the validity of the test results, medical and psychological diagnoses, and the anticipated prognosis. The report will provide information regarding potential functional and behavioral implications of any identied impairments given the client’s major life activities, such as the ability to work, attend school, live independently, or engage in leisure activities. These impressions form the basis for making recommendations that may include follow-up neuropsychological testing, referrals for additional evaluations from other disciplines to clarify the diagnoses, ideas for coping with impairments, and contact information for relevant local and national resources.
