ABSTRACT

I am grateful beyond words that so many of my academic colleagues and now-famous, former graduate students gathered in Washington, DC, to share their wisdom about experience and development. When Alan Kraut told me in the spring of 2006 that the Association for Psychological Science (APS) wanted to do a Festschrift for me, I was shocked and awed. Alan said that Richard Weinberg, my longtime collaborator, and Kathleen McCartney, former graduate student extraordinaire, were behind this honor. These three wonderful colleagues arranged the festive weekend that brought us together. I am forever grateful for the honor and for the opportunity to see so many friends again.
