ABSTRACT

The previous chapter gave a very basic introduction to the range of special educational needs. In this chapter we consider how these needs might be addressed by teachers or those who support them. It begins by considering the identification and assessment of needs and how you might go about this. It then explores the management of the resources that you might have available before moving on to consider a number of the most common areas of difficulty and basic supportive strategies for each. Subsequent chapters, especially 6 and 7, will provide you with a broader context for managing these strategies within the inclusive classroom.
