ABSTRACT

A metal wood (Wilson 1200 GE, steel shaft, D2 swingweight, 43 in) was swung by a mechanical golfer, commonly referred to as Iron Byron, with a club head speed of 165 ft/ sec at impact. A typical two-piece ball (Wilson ULTRA) was used for this event. The ball

was marked, oriented on the tee, and located in the frame of the photograph as illustrated in Fig. 1. The ball speed was measured using a ballistic light gate.
