ABSTRACT
In the 7th century A.D., Serbian people of Slavic origin settled on the Balkan Peninsula. They lived in the Eastern Roman Empire until the beginning of medieval times, when the fi rst Serbian feudal states were founded. At the end of the 14th century, Serbia came under Ottoman Empire rule. The process of its liberation began in 1804.
