ABSTRACT

From the start of the intervention, the goal was to implement relationshipbased principles with the mother as the primary agent of change. I had to establish an alliance with Muslimah so that she became interested in participating in each session without feeling overwhelmed or uncomfortable. I carefully explained that the work would be dyadic and thus, the mother and child became the client. Although the father was very involved in the ongoing treatment, his work schedule limited his ability to be engaged in each session.
