ABSTRACT

Private sweats and public chills While the sensitivity of our political and economic thermometers is always suspect, times are indeed cold for some and decidedly frosty for many more. Those who believe that cold is a Good Thing see expenditure cuts chilling us back to consciousness: we will stir ourselves to survive rather than lazily adjusting the Welfare State thermostat.
