ABSTRACT
This sect, whose name is an abbreviation of Zenna, a transcription of the Sanskrit word dhyana, which means “contemplation,” counts amongst its Hindu patriarchs the celebrated sage Bodhidharma, who remained nine years in meditation, seated cross-legged, his face turned towards a wall. Bodhidharma lived in the sixth century A.D.
