ABSTRACT

The twenty-first century will likely be dubbed “the century of crises.” It has become increasingly apparent to most scientists, natural and social, that human populations, indeed earth’s survival, are seriously threatened by environmental degradation, dwindling resources (water, food, and energy), economic decline, pandemics, and war. While specific nations and regions are no doubt more culpable than others, all of the interrelated crises we face are global in scope. These worldwide crises accelerate the need for global governance.
