ABSTRACT

Since the McMaster Model Clinical Rating Scale (MCRS) evaluates families according to the MMFF, a rater must be familiar with the model in order to obtain an accurate rating. By itself, this manual does not provide an adequate introduction. It contains brief descriptions of the MMFF dimensions, anchor point descriptions for the dimensions, and rating guidelines for using the scale. In order to obtain the necessary information to rate the family's functioning, a clinician assesses the family as outlined in previous chapters. The MCRS rating can be made by either the clinician doing the assessment or by an observer. Ratings made without complete information are likely to be wrong and should be avoided.
