ABSTRACT

We believe that the MMFF and the PCSTF provide structure and focus to guide a clinician to conduct a comprehensive evaluation and treatment for most families and family problems that he or she will encounter. We provided a complete and detailed explanation of our approach to family assessment, treatment, and research. However, whether in seminars, conferences, research meetings or professional correspondence, members of our group periodically receive questions that deal with the clinical, teaching, or research aspects of the McMaster approach. We thought it helpful to list some of the more frequently asked questions that we receive and how we respond to them. Hopefully, our answers will convey the meaning of the model in a practical sense as we address issues that arise routinely for clinicians, trainees, and researchers.
