ABSTRACT

IN her relentless penetration and subsequent absorption of the cultural and educational life of the peoples she has subjugated, Japan follows closely the trail she is blazing with her language war. In many ways this resembles the brutal attempt of Hitlerism to germanise the European continent, and the methods used are frequently so similar that one wonders who is copying from whom; but on the whole Tojo has been outdoing Hitler. The Japanese cultural campaign is decidedly more extremist and radical. Its objects are total and absolute.
