ABSTRACT

What do we mean when we say that a person is a member of group x? Presumably, that he is located in such a position that his thoughts and actions are more like the thoughts and actions of other members of group x than those of members of group y. Conceptual inclusion of a particular individual in a given group allows us to state with a reasonable degree of certainty why the person believes and does certain things rather thin others: he does so because, structurally, he is a member of the group in question.
