ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the outline of No Child Left Behind's (NCLB) neoliberal approach to educational reform. The neoliberal elements in NCLB are founded on the concept that the market is the best model for our public institutions and for society as a whole educational reform operate. The chapter studies about the steadily increasing militarization of schooling back into the ways in which specific kinds of educational reform operate. The neoconservative project extends past domestic venues to promote very aggressive foreign policies. The factions within the neoconservative movement that influence military recruiting policies form a political group promoting the Project for the New American Century. The systematic use of military recruiters that Evans mentions is clearly fashioned around the neoliberal impulse to turn everything into a commodity to be marketed, bought, and sold. The ASVAB/AFQT exam, therefore, serves both needs of military recruiters. It begins the enormous data-collection process by gaining student contact information and their individual strengths and weaknesses.
