ABSTRACT
As a first move some members of the houses of Ii, Honda, and Sakakibara proceeded to Osaka to prepare the way before him, and incidentally to act as hostages. At Hideyoshi’s suggestion the Court advanced Ieyasu to the rank of Gon-Chunagon on the fifteenth of the tenth month of 1586.
