ABSTRACT

For years, everyone has marveled at Japan’s ability to do what was thought impossible; to transform itself from a beaten and ravaged nation, with its people crammed into four rather rock-ribbed islands, into an affluent nation. Japan, which lacks many natural resources, has become the third richest country on earth. This vast accumulation of wealth and prosperity goes on, although the record-breaking pace has slowed. But while this giant’s growth looks less, its actual economic expansion each year is enormous.
