THE EVOLUTION OF BROADCASTING IN JAPAN
Radio broadcasting in Japan was begun by the Tokyo Broadcasting Station, a public utility corporation, on 22 March 1925. The only law governing the use of radio waves at that time was the 1915 Wireless Telegraphy Law. This law provided that the use of radio frequencies should be regulated by government in accordance with the necessary requirements of different services. According to the law, authorization could be given for private operation of radio communication stations.
