ABSTRACT

Non-comparative report text deals with a single topic, which may be wide-ranging, e.g. Ancient Greece or Birds, or more focused, e.g. The Scottish Wildcat.

The difference between report and recount is that report text is usually non-chronological (although there are occasional reports which can be chronologically organised, e.g. a generalised Day in the Life of . . . which is not about a specific day or person). The basic skeletons for the two text types show this difference clearly.
