ABSTRACT
In Eurocode 8, Part 1, for the design of buildings, there is no specific mention of prestressed concrete and its behaviour. However, in Part 2, there is limited advice on the design of bridges. This chapter gives a very brief introduction to the design of earthquake resistant building structures according to Eurocode 8. The reader should refer to the code and the excellent guide to the code for complete details.
