ABSTRACT

With our regional accreditation review looming, I grow increasingly concerned that somehow we are collectively missing the mark of what will be required in producing evidence of program quality. Accountability practices have become standard operating procedure in higher education. Simply offering a grade distribution does not constitute evidence that high caliber learning is taking place in any classroom. Although I have every confidence we are doing exemplary work based on testimonials from students, I am concerned that we are falling short of developing a repository of solid evidence to support that claim. I’m asking all faculty in the college to dedicate a portion of your next program meeting to determining where your program stands in its accountability practices.
