ABSTRACT

Conclusions are the most underutilized and underappreciated component of clinical papers. Their potentials are rarely realized, often because writers assume a simple summary of their paper’s main points will suffice. The culture of some journals perpetuates this perception, but when your conclusion only repeats what you said in the body of your paper, you underestimate your readers and yourself. Your conclusion offers you an opportunity to build on what you’ve done, draw out the significance of your ideas, and point yourself and your readers in new directions.
