ABSTRACT

During the next phase in the process, screening/assessment, a school committee selects some of the students for further screening, which may include individually administered measures or methods that allow for more clinical observations or the collection of other data needed for decision making. Sometimes all of the students are screened; in other cases, only 20-25 percent, depending upon state or local education agencies’ rules and regulations. To ensure equal access, however, multiple sources and measures are used in decision making during the screening phase.
