ABSTRACT
Effective communication is vital for social and academic success in older children and adolescents. Communicating with peers is frequently a focal point in an adolescent’s life. The rapid cultural change to text messaging and e-mail communication embraced by adolescents in many societies throughout the world provides evidence of their social need for constant peer communication. Academic success also draws heavily on effective communication with many aspects of an advanced education curriculum demanding strong competency in this area.
