ABSTRACT
Since Charles Taylor addresses modernity as a culture with its own values, he allows us to talk of different kinds of modernities, that is to say, for example, of a Latin American modernity or social imaginary. His point of view, which strengthens modern values, keeps alive the hopes modernity has given to humankind. However, his thought also makes us aware of the risks modernity implies.
