ABSTRACT
When Gutenberg invented moveable type in 1454 and printed the Bible, the print
communications revolution began. Printing books became a sensation; printing presses
sprang up all over Europe. This was a great departure from the spoken word that had
been king since the beginning of time. What the printing press did was to add
permanence to words, phrases, and speeches. Print would rule for about 400 years when
the electronic media brought in the second great communications revolution.
