ABSTRACT

In chapter 2 of this book, the ethic of the profession was introduced as a paradigm and described in some detail. This ethic was discussed as a fourth paradigm for viewing and solving ethical dilemmas. Whereas the ethics of justice, critique, and/or care have been emphasized as paradigms by different scholars in educational leadership, rarely has the ethic of the profession been treated as a separate and discrete model. In this book, however, an argument has been made for professional ethics to be defined as a paradigm that includes ethical principles, codes of ethics, the ethics of the community, professional judgment, and professional decision making.
