ABSTRACT

Introduction The aim of this chapter is to explore intercountry adoption (ICA) as global motherhood and how it intersects with other forms of global and transnational motherhood discussed in this volume – e.g. in creating new maternal/child relationships and rupturing or reforming others – while differing in respect of the centrality of the movement of children across borders to new permanent and irreversible legal relationships.
