ABSTRACT
Th e role of high school courses in preparation for college as measured by standardized tests is examined in this chapter. Th e research summarized was originally conducted for the Indiana Commission for Higher Education when the state was deliberating whether to raise requirements for high school graduation. At the time, the state required all high schools to off er a preparatory curriculum but did not require this standard for graduation.
