ABSTRACT

Working with parents is one of the principles embedded in the EYFS, and Steiner Waldorf teachers are committed to establishing good relationships with parents and building the bridge between home and school, as the importance of a happy, smooth transition from home to school is recognised. The majority of kindergartens hold baby groups and/or parent and child sessions (birth to 3 years) and have a good rapport with the family before the child enters kin dergarten. Teachers promote and emphasise the importance of close partnerships with parents and pro vide a focus for parent support. Links are also created with parents through a range of social and school-based events and activities, such as providing parenting or other workshops, craft sessions and celebrating festivals together.
