ABSTRACT

La lucha seguirá …el que persevera triunfa. El que persevera alcanza … … the time has come for all the lessons that we have learned as bilingual teacher

educators be used to enrich the ‹eld of teacher preparation and to prepare the next generation of teacher educators. According to the Mayans, the upcoming era of el Sexto Sol will be one of transformation. With the Educar model of transformation, we can now say that a knowledge base for bilingual education teacher preparation for Bilingual Learners (BLs) has been developed, examined, established, and now can be advanced. We can attest that the issues of cultural and linguistic diversity have to be at the core of teacher preparation programs in order to aŒect student learning, especially the learning of BLs. We have come to know the importance of understanding the social, cultural, historical, and political context of each community and its children in order for teachers and schools to respond in an e¼cacious manner.
