Whether a person committing any of these offences is prosecuted will depend on whether there is someone to press charges, for example, if damage is committed at home, parents have to be prepared to press charges. Some prosecutions will be brought because it is felt to be in the public interest, which applies to public property like park benches, but other charges will be pressed by companies, like railways for damage to stations and associated property.
