ABSTRACT
This chapter will examine key issues in the external inspection of educational organizations. In particular, developments in the Ofsted inspection framework in the UK will be reviewed and key lessons for leaders will be drawn out. The chapter will examine:
• schools and their relationship with their environment; • partnerships for learning, especially in working with parents; • external accountability and Ofsted inspection; • an illustration of approaches to inspection; • the essence of successful accountability.
