ABSTRACT
With these we help move children on to something more challenging than the familiar nursery rhyme. They often have an abab rhyming pattern or sometimes are organized in rhyming couplets – aabbcc and so on. They have rhythm as well as rhyme, giving them appeal and helping the memory if a poem is being learnt by heart.
