Towards opposition: The formation of the anti-dam campaign

So ended a statement issued on 18 August 1988 by the Narmada Dharangrasta Samiti, the Narmada Ghati Navnirman Samiti, and the Narmada Asargrasta Sangharsha Samiti.2 Having come together in opposition to the dam, the organizations urged the Government of India to ‘declare the decision to cancel Sardar Sarovar Project’.
