ABSTRACT
In this chapter, I will argue that the use of online new media has become a mixed blessing. The Internet, at its most basic function, is an information sourceincluding finding information pertaining to health.There is also another side to Internet use, and that is to find sex partners. Research suggests that a high percentage of gay men use the Internet to find sex partners and engage in high-risk behavior (e.g.,unprotected sex) that puts them at risk for contracting and spreading sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) including HIV.This relates largely to the activities of MSM (men who have sex with men).
